Gevorg Hakobyan was born on November 2, 1954 in the village of Moukhan in the Kamo region.
Mr. Hakobyan graduated with a degree in economics from Leningrad (Saint Petersburg) Soviet Institute of Commerce in 1985.
From 1973-1975 he served in the Soviet Army. He spent the next fourteen years as head of elevator operations in the Yerevan Combined Fodder Factory. From 1990-1997 he was the deputy of the General Director in that factory and in 1997 he was the president of the Yerevan Combined Fodder CJSC.
On October 15, 2000 he was elected to the NA (from electoral district # 10) and he was on the NA Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs. He was a member of the Unity Faction.
On May 25, 2003 he was reelected to the NA from electoral district # 18 and he is on the NA Standing Committee on Financial-Credit, Budgetary and Economic Affairs. He is a member of both the Republican Party of Armenia Faction and party.
Mr. Hakobyan is married and has two children.
