On February 5 NA President Mr Hovik Abrahamyan received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany (FRG) to Armenia Mrs Andrea Viktorin at the latter’s request.
Mrs Viktorin handed over the letter of the President of Bundestag of the Federal Republic of Germany Mr Nobert Lammert to RA NA President Mr Hovik Abrahamyan on cooperation over the International Parliamentary Fellowship programme between the two parliaments. The Ambassador expressed gratitude to the NA President for the willingness of supporting the Bundestag programme. It was noted that this year one additional fellowship holder would be provided to Armenia. The programme was created 20 years ago by Bundestag and by its financing, the aim of which is to introduce the young specialists of the Eastern Europe, Russia, USA with the German parliamentary management system.
Noting the high level of the Armenian-German cooperation the President of RA National Assembly Mr Hovik Abrahamyan highlighted the further development of the inter-parliamentary ties. He expressed conviction that Armenia’s participation in theInternational Parliamentary Fellowship programme would be successfully guided and developed later. Mr Abrahamyan noted that four fellowship holders have been in the National Assembly. They got acquainted with the work of the parliament and later left for Germany to get introduced with the German parliamentary management system.
During the meeting both sides emphasized the necessity of the development of cooperation between the German organization for Technical Cooperation (GTZ) and National Assembly and discussed other issues of bilateral interest too.
At the end RA NA President Mr Hovik Abrahamyan reaffirmed the invitation of the President of Bundestag of the Federal Republic of Germany Mr Nobert Lammert to Armenia.
