On November 27, Speaker of RA National Assembly Mr. Hovik Abrahamyan received the newly appointed Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of India to the Republic of Armenia Mr. Achal Kumar Malhotra.
Congratulating the Ambassador on assuming the post the NA Speaker expressed conviction that during the years of his tenure the friendly relations between Armenia and India would more develop and strengthen, which emanated from the interests of the two peoples and states. He expressed his willingness to support the deepening of cooperation in different spheres of mutual importance. Mr. Hovik Abrahamyan underlined the necessity of activating and developing the inter-parliamentary relations of two countries, highlighted the cooperation of Parliamentary Friendship Groups, exchange of experience in the legislative field, partnership in the international organizations. Armenia highly assesses its warm relations with India, which have already started from the 16th century, when the Armenian-Indian trade wide ties, making closer the friendship of the two peoples, have been a basis for the formation of the Indian-Armenian community.
Expressing his gratitude for the reception, Ambassador of India to Armenia Mr. Achal Kumar Malhotra noted that he would make efforts for developing warm and friendly relations as far as possible in different directions. The necessity of developing and deepening the inter-parliamentary relations was highlighted. The Ambassador of India informed the head of the parliament that it was envisaged to open educational center of information technologies.
At the end of the meeting NA Speaker Mr. Hovik Abrahamyan asked the Ambassador of India to convey his invitation of visiting Armenia to the Speaker of the Indian Parliament.
