On June 12, the delegation led by the Speaker of the National Assembly Ararat Mirzoyan visited the Riksdag of the Kingdom of Sweden. The delegation attended the plenary sitting of the Riksdag, where the Swedish MPs welcomed the NA Speaker Ararat Mirzoyan and the representatives of the Armenian Parliament.
During the working dinner with the Second Deputy Speaker of the Riksdag Lotta Johnsson Fornarve the reforms in the judicial system going on in Armenia, as well as in the protection of human rights and democratization were discussed. Recalling with warmth her visit to Armenia in March the Second Deputy Speaker expressed readiness to support the further strengthening of the Armenian-Swedish parliamentary ties. The members of Armenia-Sweden Parliamentary Friendship Group also took part in the working dinner.
On the same day the bilateral meeting of Ararat Mirzoyan and Andreas Norlén in the Conference Hall of the Speaker of the Riksdag was held, where the heads of all political factions of the Swedish Parliament took part.
Ararat Mirzoyan and the members of the delegation answered their Swedish colleagues’ numerous questions, which related to the revolution happened in Armenia, the current inner-political and foreign political developments and the ongoing reforms in the judicial system. The support being shown by Sweden for the consolidation of the democratic achievements in Armenia was also discussed. The representatives of all political factions held the same opinion in the positive assessments on radical changes being done in Armenia.
Ararat Mirzoyan reaffirmed his invitation to the Speaker of the Riksdag Andreas Norlén, the Deputy Speakers and the Heads of all political factions to visit Armenia, which would give an opportunity to further deepen the Armenian-Swedish parliamentary cooperation.
At the end of the day on the honour of the RA NA Speaker and the delegation members an official dinner was given in Villa Bonnier designed for the official receptions of the Speaker of the Riksdag, to which preceded the two Speakers’ private conversation with 40-minute duration.
