Within the framework of the IPA CIS the RA NA President Hovik Abrahamyan met with the President of the Senate of Kazakhstan Kairat Mami. Mr Mami has congratulated the NA President on reelection, noting that the activation of inter-parliamentary cooperation will greatly promote the further development of bilateral relations, in this context stressing that Armenia is an important counterpart. Mr Mami has noted that the Armenian community has also an important role in deepening friendly relations of the two countries: about 30.000 Armenians live in Kazakhstan.
The RA NA President Hovik Abrahamyan has highlighted the formation of mechanisms of functioning ties by using new opportunities of development of relations and the activation of inter-parliamentary cooperation. Mr Abrahamyan has noted that about 30 agreements signed between the two countries serve as a good basis for developing the cooperation in different directions.
Both sides emphasized the cooperation in international parliamentary organizations, the cooperation at the level of the parliaments’ committees and friendship groups. In the course of the meeting they also touched upon the regional problems and other issues of bilateral interest.
The NA President Hovik Abrahamyan invited the President of the Senate of Kazakhstan Kairat Mami to Armenia on an official visit.
