On October 8 the 129th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) continued its work, where the RA NA delegation led by the RA NA President Hovik Abrahamyan took part.
Within the framework of the Assembly Hovik Abrahamyan had a meeting with the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran (IRI) Majlis Ali Larijani.
In the course of the meeting, which was conducted in warm atmosphere, Hovik Abrahamyan and Ali Larijani documented that the Armenian-Iranian relations are at high level, and continue to develop in the atmosphere of mutual atmosphere, and the cooperation of the parliaments of the two countries boost to it. Both sides highlighted the activity of the Friendship Parliamentary Groups, whose active contacts and cooperation promote the rapprochement of inter-parliamentary relations. They highlighted the necessity of further deepening of economic relations. Touching upon the regional problems, the heads of the Armenian and Iranian parliaments stressed that the conflicts should be solved through peaceful and negotiating means for regional security and stability.
During the meeting other issues of mutual interest were also discussed.
