On November 5 the NA President Hovik Abrahamyan visited Tavush Marz. The RA Deputy Prime Minister, the RA Minister of Territorial Administration Armen Gevorgyan, the Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Youth and Sport Artak Davtyan, NA deputies Karine Atshemyan, Ruben Hakobyan, Ruzanna Muradyan, Karine Poghosyan, Shushan Petrosyan, Aghvan Vardanyan, Hakob Hakobyan, the Head of Tavush Marz Armen Ghularyan accompanied the NA President.
The delegation led by the NA President visited Dilijan International School. Let us note that Dilijan International School is charitable initiative which will present Armenia in a new way on the map of the world educational centres. 90 pupils will enter it in the first educational year, and its number will reach 650 in 2023, at least from 60 countries. 90 per cent of the gifted pupils will study free, due to the fellowships allocated by the benefactors. Now wide scale construction works are carried out, the Head of the Parliament got acquainted with their procedure. Those responsible presented to Mr Abrahamyan the volume of the construction designed in the international school, the work done and the steps to be taken in the future.
The next stop of the NA President Hovik Abrahamyan was Goshavank Monastery Complex. The Head of the Parliament and the members of the delegation laid flowers at the statue perpetuating Mkhitar Gosh’s memory. Let us note that the statue has been erected on the occasion of the 800th anniversary of Mkhitar Gosh’s death. In Goshavank the Primate of the Tavush Diocese Archbishop Yeznik Petrosyan presented to the guests the prayer book I Confess with Faith by Nerses the Gracious. The NA President, the RA Deputy Prime Minister and the NA deputies read out loud extracts from the 24-prayer book. The Archbishop Yeznik Petrosyan thanked the NA President for the visit. He touched upon Mkhitar Gosh’s path, and then introduced to the attendees the state of the building of the 12-13th centuries, noting that the church needed reconstruction. Mr Abrahamyan urged the Primate of the Tavush Diocese to submit recommendations on the repairing works of the monastery and promised to support in solving the problems. Then the Head of the Parliament took a tour in the Monastery Complex, got acquainted with the problems connected with the historical-cultural monument.
At the end of the day Hovik Abrahamyan in his talk with the journalists wound up the outcomes of the visit. He has noted that an Armenian is obliged to have his/her contribution to the protection of the religious centres. To Mr Abrahamyan’s assessment, in this sphere also, if there are problems demanding legislative solution, the NA Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Youth and Sport launches the debate and solution of the problems. Speaking about the visits to the marzes the NA President has underlined that NA deputies as legislators, should regularly be in the marzes, communicate with the residents and got familiarized with the problems. Touching upon his visit to Dilijan International School, Hovik Abrahamyan has said that during one year wide-scale work has been done. Mr Abrahamyan has added that he has understood from his talk with those responsible for the International School that the authors of the initiative are not interested in the profit, they highlight the qualified education. “It is a big wealth for our country, as well as in terms of knowing the country. I am sure that the initiators have done a lot of work for our country and our people,” the Head of the Parliament underscored. Instead of investing 50mln USD, 190mln investment will be made. In the context of the equal development of the areas he has highlighted the implementation of such programmes in the marzes.
