On January 31 in Abu Dhabi the RA NA President Hovik Abrahamyan and His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians visited the St. Nahatakatz /Martyrs/ Armenian Church which was under construction and got acquainted with the procedure of the works.

On the same day the NA President Hovik Abrahamyan and His Holiness visited the RA Embassy to the UAE, met with the representatives of the Armenian community.

Welcoming the attendees the NA President said in particular:

“Yesterday I had an honour in the Sharjah American University to hand over an Order of Honour in the name of the President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan to Doctor Al Qasimi for his personal contribution to the strengthening of friendship and economic development between the two countries. Today together with the Catholicos of All Armenians we visited the Armenian Church which is under construction in Abu Dhabi. These two important events not only witness spiritual bonds and warm feelings of our peoples, but also serve as a brilliant example of tolerance, dialogue between the cultures and religions.

Our centuries-old history witnesses the warm relations of Armenia and the Armenian people with the Arab world. It proves that in their contacts our peoples, first of all, have appreciated spiritual and human values. Armenia attaches great importance to the development of relations with the Persian Gulf Arab states, including also the United Arab Emirates. It is symbolical that our meeting takes place in the beautiful building, in the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia, which was opened in 2000.

Today the most important thing is to strengthen the statehood of Armenia and make powerful the country, and on that path we should overcome numerous difficulties. Among them are the fair and peaceful settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, the international full recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide on the threshold of its 100^th anniversary. The Republic of Armenia is permanently guided by the logic of solving all the problems and confrontations through civilized way, and that way is the dialogue. Hence, we are ready to discuss with Turkey the issue of establishing relations without preconditions, at the same time announcing that the issue of the Armenian Genocide has never been disputable and will not be.

We should be able to distinctly evaluate our potential and use at best the possibilities of the Armenians spread all over the world. Only in that case we can realize our all-national goals.

Dear compatriots,

The best way of preserving the Armenian identity serves the maintenance of firm relations of all representatives of our people spread all over the world, with the Republic of Armenia . The newest history of Armenia is rich in national aspirations of the Diaspora Armenians, which in the beginning were expressed by the material support and today already by the implementation of trade-economic and investment programmes, which has greatly promoted the development of economic ties between Armenia and foreign countries. I would note with satisfaction that the trade-economic ties between Armenia and the United Arab Emirates are gradually taking a coordinated shape. One of its vivid examples is the tangible progress registered in trade-economic ties between Armenia and Ras Al Khaimah Emirate, which is revealed by the latter’s investments made in a number of spheres of our republic. We would also like to see you in the process of implementation of joint programmes. That will be the best pledge of your involvement and preservation of national identity.”

The NA President highly assessed the contribution of His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians to the strengthening of state-church relations, as well as the role of the Armenian church in the deepening of Armenia-Diaspora relations. He highlighted the fact that during the 14-year tenure of His Holiness more than a hundred of churches have been built in Armenia and beyond Armenia. Hovik Abrahamyan highlighted the activity of the RA Embassy to the UAE and highly assessed Gegham Gharibjanyan’s efforts in developing and deepening the relations between Armenia and the UAE.

His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians addressed his patriarchal word to the Armenian community of Abu Dhabi.

The RA Ambassador to the UAE Gegham Gharibjanyan had a word of welcome. In the Embassy Park the RA NA President Hovik Abrahamyan and His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians planted trees.
