As a result of the political statement recently announced by the parliamentary political forces, at the initiative of the political parties represented in the parliament the RA NA President Galust Sahakyan, the RA Minister of Defense Seyran Ohanyan, the Head of the "Heritage" Faction Rubik Hakobyan, the Head of the ARF Faction Armen Rustamyan, the member of the “Rule of Law” Faction Ishkhan Khachatryan, the Head of the ANC Faction Levon Zurabyan, the member of the “Prosperous Armenia” Faction Gurgen Arsenyan and the Secretary of the RPA Faction Gagik Melikyan were on a two-day visit to Tavush Marz on August 16-17.

The first visit of the RA NA President and parliamentarians was with the pickets at the Movses community military base. The RA NA President Galust Sahakyan and the representatives of the political forces noted that the troops and servicemen guarding the borders of the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Nagorno Karabakh had given an adequate response to the subversive actions recently conducted by the adversary and had once again proven the invincibility of the Armenian soldier’s spirit, the fighting efficiency and high combat readiness of the Armenian Armed Forces, the love and devotion to the Motherland. The representatives of the parliamentary factions mentioned that the Armenian border troops are alert and watchful and realize well that they are the first defenders of the security and inviolability of our Homeland, and that the protection of our country’s and NKR’s borders is in safe hands.

During the warm and direct conversation with the delegation members the interchangeable soldiers and officers assured that they are ready to resist and repel the adversary at any moment.

After the meeting with soldiers the RA NA President met with the inhabitants of Movses community. Touching upon the border community issues, the RA NA President stated that Armenian authorities do everything in the direction of resolving the problem: “At the present, all the political forces have united around one idea of Homeland defense. You are a part of the Armenian Army and in the case of necessity we shall together stand up for the defense of our country.”- noted the RA NA President, addressing to the community residents.

Afterwards the NA President and the representatives of parliamentary factions took part in the solemn ceremony dedicated to the 14^th anniversary of the creation of Mehrab’s regiment, one of the units defending our country’s borders. Those present mentioned that the unit greatly contributes to the defense of Armenia's north-eastern gates and due to its high fighting efficiency suspends the adversary’s infringements. 

Congratulating the soldiers and officers on the occasion of the holiday, the parliamentarians stated that notwithstanding the existing conflicts and disagreements with authorities, the political forces are united in the country’s security protection together with the people and the army.

During the meeting at the unit club the RA NA Galust Sahakyan noted that as a result of the upcoming legislative reforms many problems faced by border communities would be handled.

Thereafter the RA NA President and MPs visited Aygepar, Nerkin Karmiraghbyur, Vazashen border communities and positions. During meetings with parliamentarians the residents of the border communities spoke out their problems of concern. The RA NA President noted that the problems of these communities’ inhabitants are at the centre of authorities’ attention and everything is being done for their solution.

Touching upon the joint statement by the RA NA parliamentary factions and the visit to Tavush Marz, the representatives of the political forces mentioned that any infringement by the adversary would be worthily hit by the soldiers of the Armenian Army, and all the political forces would unite around the Homeland’s defense and worthily repel the adversary. Through the Nagorno Karabakh conflict the Armenian people have obtained a trait to unite and the political forces in case of threat to the Homeland have always united and will continue like that. According to the deputies, in the hardest situation people and political forces unite and always succeed in repelling the external enemy.

On August 17 the RA NA President Galust Sahakyan and the representatives of the political forces of the parliament met with the residents of Berkaber and Barekamavan border communities. In Barekamavan they participated in the opening ceremony of khachkar /cross stone/ dedicated to fallen freedom fighters.

At the end of the two-day visit the delegation led by the RA NA President took part in Honey and Berry Festival at Berd community of Tavush marz. The RA NA President visited also historical-cultural museum of Tavush.
