On December 12 the RA NA President Galust Sahakyan received Smail Allaua, the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria (residence in Moscow). The NA President congratulated Smail Allaua on the occasion of being appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Algeria, expressing hope that the newly appointed Ambassador will promote the development and deepening of the relations of the two states.
Highlighting the development of relations with Algeria the NA President has noted that in contrast with other Arab states the Arab-Algerian relations have not recorded progress at desirable level. He has also documented that the RA National Assembly is ready to have its contribution to the process if the establishment and strengthening of the Armenian-Algerian cooperation, highlighting the role of parliamentary diplomacy in the development of inter-state relations. Galust Sahakyan has expressed his concern over the events developing in the Middle East, highlighting the solution of the conflicts exclusively through peaceful dialogue. Touching upon the Nagorno Karabakh conflict the NA President has highlighted the necessity of the implementation of the events directed to the formation of the atmosphere of mistrust, which results in growth of tension and new victims because of Azerbaijan’s non-constructive approach.
Expressing his gratitude to the Arab people for giving asylum the Armenian migrants who have survived the Genocide, Galust Sahakyan has talked about the events to be held in Yerevan in April 2015.
Thanking for the reception the Ambassador Smail Allau has highlighted the role of diplomacy in the development and strengthening of the relations of two friendly countries. He has shared the RA NA President’s concern over the events going on in the region and preservation of security of Christian population living in Iraq.
The newly appointed Ambassador has noted that the cooperation which has started between the two peoples has not continued, and today we should make efforts in order to develop the political dialogue, and the two countries unite the efforts in the solution of the regional problems. At the end of the meeting interlocutors have talked about the existing potential of the development of cooperation between Armenia and Algeria, expressing hope that the potential existing in the political, economic and cultural spheres will be used at best in the coming years.
