On October 18 the Delegation led by the RA NA President Galust Sahakyan that left for Geneva (Switzerland) to take part in the works of the 133rd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union had a meeting with Nabih Berri, President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Lebanon. In the course of the meeting issues regarding the development of the relations of the two countries, and the cooperation at international platforms and in different spheres were discussed.
During the meeting talking about the issues concerning the development of the relations of the two countries, Galust Sahakyan has underlined the necessity of the development of the inter-parliamentary cooperation, which, according to the Head of the Parliament, is important in the strengthening of the bases of mutually beneficial cooperation.
“The inter-parliamentary ties serve as an important component of the inter-state relations, the activation of the contacts at the level of parliaments, promotes the strengthening of mutual understanding and mutual trust,” the RA NA President noted.
The President of the National Assembly of Lebanon Nabih Berri has thanked his counterpart for the meeting and assured that Lebanon is next to Armenia. Talking about the Nagorno Karabakh, the Head of the Parliament of Lebanon has reaffirmed his attitude, in this issue Lebanon supports the Republic of Armenia.
Touching upon the events occurring in Syria, Mr Berri has noted that all the opportunities of the solution of the problem through peaceful means are exhausted: hence, it is necessary to stop the ferocities occurring in Syria simply by force.
Galust Sahakyan invited his counterpart to the Republic of Armenia and received mutual invitation.
