Born on November 8, 1975 in the city of Alaverdi of Lori province.

1997 - Graduated from Kh. Abovian Armenian State Pedagogical Institute - division of history of the Historical - Geographical faculty. 

2000 - Postgraduate student of the Chair of the History of Armenia of the Armenian State Pedagogical Institute. 

2006 - Sharmazanov also finished studies at the Moscow School of Political Researches under the auspices of the Council of Europe. He is a candidate of pedagogical sciences. The topic - “Garegin Nzhdeh’s Pedagogical Views.” He is the author of a number of scientific -  journalistic articles and the author of the monologue “Garegin Nzhdeh and the Key Issues of Military Pedagogics.”

1995 - Founded the “Zartonk” student Union in Alaverdi.

1997 - 1999 - Head of the Students’ Scientific Association of the Armenian State Pedagogical Institute (ASPI.) 

1999 - 2002 - Worked in the educational complex # 159 as a teacher.

2002 - 2005 - Chairman of the Students’ Board of the Armenian State Pedagogical Institute, Rector’s assistant, lecturer in the chair of Armenian History in Armenian State Pedagogical University, and Deputy Chairman of the Youth Organization of the Republican Party of Armenia.

May 2005 - Nominated candidate for Mayor of Alaverdi.

2005 - 2007 - Aide to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia.

2003 - Honoured with the Prime Minister’s letter of thanks and prize for his enthusiastic participation in political activity in the RA Youth political field.

2005 - Honoured with the “Armenian” prize as the best head of the students’ self - government body.

2006 - Awarded with the "Garegin Nzhdeh'' Medal of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia.

2008 - Awarded with the "Andranik Ozanyan" Medal.

2009 - Awarded with the "Fridtjof Nansen" commemorative Gold Medal.

2011 - Awarded with the CIS Inter - Parliamentary Assembly Diploma and commemorative Medal.

2007 - 2012 - Deputy of the National Assembly (proportional electoral system, RPA.)

June 12, 2011 - May 31 - 2012 - Vice President of the National Assembly.

June 19, 2007 - July 11 - 2008 - Member of the Standing Committee on European Integration of the National Assembly.

July 11, 2008 - May 31, 2012 - Member of the Standing Committee on Social Affairs of the National Assembly. Speaker of the RPA Press.

May 6, 2012 - Elected Deputy of the National Assembly by the proportional electoral system from the Republican Party of Armenian.

May 31, 2012 - Elected Vice - President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia. 

Mr. Sharmazanov is married with two children.
