Born on February 7, 1955 in Aleppo (Syrian Arab Republic.)

1979 - Graduated from the faculty of Architecture of Yerevan K. Marx Polytechnic Institute.

1984 - Faculty of Engineering of Boston Tufts University.  Engineer-builder.

1992 - Boston Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy.

1992 -1993 - Worked at the Republic of Armenia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Middle East Department.

1993 -1994 - Head of the MFA North America Department.

1994 - 1997 - Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia.

1997-1998 - First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.

1993 - 2008 - Envoy of the Nagorno-Karabakh negotiations.

1998 - 2008 - Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia.

2008 - 2012 -  President (founder) of “Civilitas” foundation.
