Rubik Hakobyan

Born on December 17, 1955 in Gavar (Gegharkunik province).

1974 - 1976 - Served in the Soviet Army.

1976 - 1980 - Studied at the Faculty of Philology of Yerevan State University.

1980 - 1983 - Continued education in St. Petersburg. Graduated from the Faculty of Journalism of St. Petersburg (Leningrad) State University. Candidate of Political Science.

1972 - 1974 - Worker at “Dipol” in Kamo.

1984 - 1990 - Editor, political commentator, head of division of TV Radio State Committee of Armenia.

2000 - 2008 - RA General Consul in St. Petersburg (RF).

2008 - 2012 - Director of the “Akunk” Center for the Political Analysis.

1990 - 1995 - Deputy of the Supreme Council (electoral district #131). Secretary of the Standing Committee on Media of the Supreme Council.

1994 - 1995 - Member of the Constitutional Commission of the SC. Head of the ARF parliamentary group.

1995 - 1999 - Deputy of the National Assembly (electoral district # 8). Member of the Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture and Youth Affairs of the National Assembly. Member of the ARF faction.

1999 - 2000 - Deputy of the National Assembly (proportional electoral system, ARF). Member of the Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs of the National Assembly. Secretary of ARF faction.

May 6, 2012 - Elected Deputy of the National Assembly by the proportional electoral system from the “Heritage” party.

Married, with two children.
