Born on July 12, 1953 in Leninakan (now Gyumri).

1976 - 1977 - Served in the Soviet Army.

1975 - Graduated from the Faculty of Culture of the Leninakan M. Nalbandian State Pedagogical Institute. Teacher of Physical Culture.

1982 - Post Graduate from the Leningrad Lesgaft National State Institute of Physical Culture. Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences. Professor. Honored teacher of the Republic of Armenia.

1975 -1976 and 1982 - 1989 - Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, Docent of the Faculty of Physical Education of the Leninakan M. Nalbandyan State Pedagogical Institute.

1977 -1979 - Lecturer of the Department of Sports Games and Gymnastics of the same Institute.

1989 - 1992 - Dean of the Faculty of Physical Education and Biology of the same Institute.

1990 -1995 - Deputy of Gyumri City Council.

1992 - 1996 - Head of the Department of Physical Education and Sports of the Gyumri City Council.

1996 - 1998 - Head of the Shirak Province Department of Sports.

1998 - 1999 - Deputy Head of the Department of Education.

2002 - 2016 - Rector of the Gyumri M. Nalbandyan State Pedagogical Institute.

Since 2016 - Professor of the Department of Theory and Methods of Physical Education of the same Institute.

1990 - 1995 - Deputy of the SC (Supreme Council) (electoral district #87). Member of the Standing Committee on the Zone of Disaster and Deportees of the SC (Supreme Council). Not included in factions. Member of the social-political organization “Arakelutiun” (Mission).

1999 - 2002 - Member of the National Assembly (electoral district #62). Member of the Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture and Youth Affairs of the National Assembly. Member of the “Stability” deputy group, later renamed “Agrarian-Industrial People’s Unification.” Member of the social-political organization “Arakelutiun” (Mission).

2017 - 2019 - Member of the National Assembly (electoral district #11 of the “Tsarukyan” alliance of parties). Head of the Standing Committee on Territorial Administration, Local Self-Government, Agriculture and Environment of the National Assembly.

December 9, 2018 - Elected Member of the National Assembly from the territorial electoral list of the electoral district #11 of the “Prosperous Armenia” party.

Author of more than fifty scientific works.

Married, with four children.
