Chapter 1. Nature Protection Payment Rates

Article 1. Scope of the Law

This law shall set nature protection payment rates and the calculation procedure thereof.

Article 2. Environmental Payment Rates

Set the following nature protection payment rates for pollution of the air basin with harmful substances:

a) for each ton of harmful substances ejected from permanent sources into the air basin:

Article 3. Payment for Allocation of Production and Consumption Wastes in the Environment

Set the following payment rates for allocation of production and consumption wastes in the environment in due procedure of law:

Article 4. Payment Rates for Commodities Harmful for the Environment

To set the following nature protection payment rates for goods harmful for environment:

Chapter 2. Procedure Of Calculation Of Nature Protection Payments

Article 5. Procedure of Calculation of Payment for Polluting the Environment with Harmful Substances

1. Payment for ejection of harmful substances from permanent sources into the air basin shall be calculated in accordance with law of the Republic of Armenia on Nature Protection and Nature Utilization Payments and rates specified in clause 1(a) of article 2 of this law.
2. Payment for ejection of harmful substances from automobiles and mechanisms registered and operating in the Republic of Armenia owned by individuals and legal entities shall be calculated in accordance with the rate specified in clause 1(b) of article 2 of this law and shall be paid once per annum before their checkup.
3. Payment for ejection of harmful substances into the air basin from means of transportation registered in foreign countries shall be calculated in accordance with rates specified in clause 1(c) of article 2 of this law.
4. Payment for ejection of harmful substances and compounds into the water basin shall be calculated in accordance with the law of the Republic of Armenia on Nature Protection and Nature Utilization Payments and rates specified in clause 2, article 2 of this law.

Article 6. Procedure of Calculation of Payment for Allocation of Production and Consumption Wastes in the Environment According to the Specified Procedure

Payment for allocation of production and consumption wastes in the environment according to the specified procedure shall be calculated in accordance with the law of the Republic of Armenia on Nature Protection and Nature Utilization Payments and rates specified in article 3 of this law.

Article 7. Procedure of Calculating the Payment Amount for Goods Harmful for Environment

Payment for goods harmful for environment shall be calculated in accordance with the law of the Republic of Armenia on Nature Protection and Nature Utilization Payments and the rates specified in article 4 of this law.

Chapter 3. Transitional Provisions

Article 8. Entry of the Law into Force

1. This law shall enter into force from May 1, 2000, with the exception of clause 1(b) of article 2, which shall enter into force from January 1, 2001.
2. From the moment of entry of this law into force till December 31 of the year 2000 payments for ejection of harmful substances from automobiles and mechanisms registered and operating in the Republic of Armenia owned by individuals and legal entities based on fuel consumption and model shall be calculated according to procedure and rates operational as of April 30, 2000.
