Armen Ashotyan Addresses His European Colleagues

On March 1, the Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations Armen Ashotyan addressed the Vice Presidents of the European Parliament, the Chair and the members of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the European Parliament, the members of the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly Bureau, his colleague of the Committee on Armenia-European Union Parliamentary Cooperation and the Committee members, providing the latter the Statement of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia adopted on the 30th Anniversary of Sumgait Pogrom.

Armen Ashotyan expressed hope that the mass violence, murders and deportations would get targeted and not ambiguous characterizations in the Parliamentary Assemblies, especially in the European Parliament, promoting the prevention of the violation of the norms of humanitarian law, as well as the provision of stability and security in the region.

In this context the resolutions of the European Parliament on Nagorno Karabkah have also been touched upon, particularly the resolution of 1988 and 1992 were distinguished, which once again confirm the importance of the right of Nagorno Karabkah people’s self-determination.
