Eduard Sharmazanov to RF FA FC Deputy Speaker: We Should Fight United against any Manifestation of Denial
1 / 2

On October 8, within the framework of the working visit the RA NA Deputy Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov met with the Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Ilyas Umakhanov.

In the course of the meeting the sides discussed issues on the development of the Armenian-Russian inter-parliamentary relations. Eduard Sharmazanov highlighted the further activation and deepening of bilateral ties in all directions. To his assessment, the membership of the RA to the EEU was justified: Armenia had an opportunity to join the Eurasian market. According to Eduard Sharmazanov, the economic enlivening registered in recent years in Armenia, first of all, is conditioned by the membership to the EEU.

The sides emphasized the effective cooperation within the framework of the CSTO PA and IPA CIS. The RA NA Deputy Speaker has underlined that our country is ready to organize the plenary sessions of the CSTO PA Council and the Assembly in Yerevan on October 29-30 at high level, stressing that the Plenary Session of the Assembly will be held in Yerevan for the first time.

Touching upon the problem of the international recognition of the Armenian Genocide, Eduard Sharmazanov has noted that Russia is among the countries that recognized the Armenian genocide. Stressing that the this year sees the 70th anniversary of the adoption of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide by the UN General Assembly, the RA NA Deputy Speaker expressed conviction that to rule out the new genocides all genocides perpetrated before should be condemned. “Today, being in Turkey, I would like to note that the denial is a new challenge for Eurasia continent. We should fight against all manifestations of denial,” the RA NA Deputy Speaker said.
