Ararat Mirzoyan Receives Ambassador of the United States to Armenia

On March 1, the RA NA Speaker Ararat Mirzoyan received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States to the Republic of Armenia Lynne Tracy

Ararat Mirzoyan congratulated the Ambassador on assuming the diplomatic mission, wishing her effective work for the two countries’ welfare and prosperity. Underlining that the United States is one of the important partners of Armenia, the Head of the parliament has documented that our country attaches great importance to the further deepening and development of the bilateral relations.

In the context of the bilateral inter-state relations the Speaker of the National Assembly has underlined the role of the inter-parliamentary cooperation, expressing conviction that Armenia-U.S. Friendship Group to be formed again in the near future and the U.S. Congressional Caucus on Armenian Issues are important links in the development of the ties between the legislative bodies.

In the deepening of the political dialogue with the United States Ararat Mirzoyan highlighted the role of the existing mechanisms: USATF and TIFA Council.

The Head of the legislative body highly assessed the support being shown for more than 25 years by the U.S. in the reforms being implemented in strengthening of democracy, economic development and different spheres.

Talking about the continuous process of the reforms being implemented in our country Ararat Mirzoyan noted: “The democracy, the human rights and freedoms, the fight against corruption and the transparency and the accountability are not merely words for us, they are fundamental values, and Armenia will steadily go through that path. I call on our international colleagues, also the United States to stand next to us and support the strengthening of democracy in our country.”

The Ambassador touched upon the directions of cooperation, the further programs and works to be done of the two countries. She also emphasized the role of the parliamentary diplomacy in strengthening of bilateral relations.

“I was honored to meet Speaker Mirzoyan at the parliament and reaffirm strong U.S. support for Armenia's democratic institutions,” Lynne Tracy underlined.

In the course of the meeting the sides have also referred to the development of Armenia-U.S. trade-economic relations, in a number of spheres, particularly, the boosting of cooperation in the field of information technologies, where there is unused great potential.
