Working Discussion at RA NA Standing Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs

On March 11, at the invitation of the RA NA Standing Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs the RA Minister of Health Arsen Torosyan visited the parliament. Arsen Torosyan answered the deputies’ questions on some themes of public interest.

The MPs were interested in the widely spread information on free treatment of the oncologic diseases, and Arsen Torosyan clarified that it was not clear.

According to Arsen Torosyan, the early deaths are very concerning, and their reason is the tobacco.

The issue of the Hookah-Clubs activity was also discussed. The member of the Hookah Lovers’ Association Gor Gasparyan has informed that in case of closing the clubs about 700 citizens will become unemployed.

The Committee Chair Naira Zohrabyan noted that the debates would be continuous. He was for the initiatives aimed at the protection of the citizens’ health and highlighted the Health Minister’s initiatives.

The RA Minister of Health Arsen Torosyan has also noted that steps are taken for the reform of the system and the elimination of the money shadow turnover.

By the decision of the Committee on April 5 parliamentary hearings titled National Agenda of Human Rights: the UN Universal Regular Observation would be held, which the RA NA Standing Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs, the Staff of the RA Human Rights Defender and the UN Office in Armenia jointly organize.
