1 / 3

On March 14, the members of the NA Standing Committee on European Integration met with the Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Specialist Regional Coordinator on Labour Administration, Labour Inspection, Labour Security and Health Care of the UN International Labour Organization (ILO) Valentin Mocanu, the Technical Specialist of the ILO Labour Administration Arsenio Fernandez and the ILO National Coordinator Nune Hovhannisyan.

The procedure of the programme Support to the Beneficiary Countries of the Generalised Scheme of Preferences (GSP+) in Effectively Using the Labour International Standards and Decently Fulfilling the Accountability Obligations being financed by the EU was discussed. In this context a number of issues concerning the protection of the employers’ rights in Armenia and the maintenance of security in the workplace were touched upon. Both sides especially stressed the importance of the activity of the inspection bodies in the sphere of labour, the distinct specification of their structure and correspondence with international standards.

The works carried out for providing guarantees established by the labour legislation up to the 18-year old persons and excluding the cases of their involvement in the banned work were especially highlighted.

The NA Standing Committee on European Integration expressed readiness to activate the works in elaboration of the legislation aimed at the solution of the abovementioned problems.
