Parliamentary Hearings on Modern Problems of Road Traffic

On February 27, the RA NA Prosperous Armenia Faction convened parliamentary hearings entitled The Modern Problems of Road Traffic and Ways of Their Solution.

The Member of the Faction, the RA NA Deputy Speaker Vahe Enfiajyan conducted the hearings.

In his opening remarks Vahe Enfiajyan noted that the NA Prosperous Armenia Faction had been receiving letters and applications on the problems, thus initiated hearings to debate them and find solutions for the issues.

The Secretary of the Prosperous Armenia Faction Arman Abovyan delivered a speech. According to him, on the initiative of the Faction an Ad hoc Committee was created for these problems.

The Head of the RA Road Police Yegor Karapetyan presented the violations of the road transport recorded in 2018-2019 and the number of the victims and injured.

The RA First Deputy Minister of Justice Rafik Grigoryan touched upon the point system.

The RA Deputy Minister Territorial Administration and Infrastructures Armen Simonyan presented information on the situation of the roads in the republic, the repairs made and to be made and the works of their technical examination.

The Chairman of the RA Chamber of Advocates Ara Zohrabyan gave a speech and touched upon the statistics of the road transport accidents.

The Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan took the floor and highlighted the voiced issues and the necessity of solving the concerns.

The speakers answered to the questions of the hearings’ participants which mainly related to the difficulties of claiming the recorded violations and the lasting of judicial process, the inequality of lining and sometimes their absence, non-sufficient lighting of the roads, the necessity of the underground and the upper ground parking building, the red lines, the traffic jams, the inconsolable situation of the public transport, the importance of establishing control towards the drivers’ health situation, etc.

Exchange of ideas took place, and recommendations of improving the well known law on the point system were voiced.

Summing up the hearings Vahe Enfiajyan thanked the participants for the concerned and effective debate, noting that the recommendations would be summed up and comprehensive debates would be held for the solution of the problems.
