Amendment to Agreement on Interaction and Cooperation of the CIS Member States in Fight Against Illicit Trafficking in Drugs, Psychotropic Substances and Components

At April 9 sitting of the NA Standing Committee on Defense and Security, the draft law on Ratifying the Protocol on Making Amendments to the Agreement of 30 November 2000 on Interaction and Cooperation of the CIS Member States in the Fight Against Illicit Trafficking in Drugs, Psychotropic Substances and Components was debated presenting by the RA Deputy Head of Police Ara Fidanyan.

The protocol has been signed between the governments of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan and the Russian Federation. It has already entered into force for Belarus, Kazakhstan, Moldova and Tajikistan.

The Deputy Head of Police noted that the proposed amendments are aimed at improving Cooperation of the CIS Member States in the Fight Against Illicit Trafficking in Drugs, Psychotropic Substances and Components.

The ratification of the protocol was approved by the RA Government and the Constitutional Court.

It has been stated that the ratification of the protocol on Amending the Agreement or approval in terms of pursuing Armenia’s foreign policy is expedient.

The co-rapporteur, the NA deputy Armen Khachatryan highlighting the necessity of ratification called on his colleagues to vote for the bill.

The draft law was approved by the Committee.
