Parliament Debates Issue on Electing Audit Chamber Member

At May 7 sitting, the Parliament debated the issue on the electing the Audit Chamber member. The Standing Committee on Financial-Credit and Budgetary Affairs, pursuant to Article 145 of the Constitutional Law - the NA Rules of Procedure, proposed to the National Assembly Gegham Hoveyan’s candidacy, introduced by My Step Faction, for the vacancy of a member of the RA Audit Chamber.

The Member of the NA Standing Committee on the Financial-Credit and Budgetary Affairs presented the biography and the working experience of the candidate to the parliament. Gegham Hoveyan expressed gratitude to the NA My Step Faction for nominating him as a candidate. The candidate noted that he had met with the NA factions and the deputies, as a result of which he had come to a conclusion that they could overcome the existing challenges on the issue of carrying out an effective audit of the state budget.

Introducing the working esperience, the candidate especially underlined the accrued knowledge and skills in the audit sphere of the communities. “I will propose you to provide more resources for the audit of the regions and apply new toolset,” Hoveyan said and expressed readiness to support the issue of the implementation of the strategic programmes for the development of the Audit Chamber.

By the candidate’s assessment, his aim is to achieve maximum results with minimal resources in the accounting sphere of the communities. He expressed readiness to support the legislative amendments.

The candidate answered the deputies’ questions which mainly referred to the audits carrying out in the communities, detection of violations as a result of them, the necessity to implement legislative amendments, the clarification of authorities of the local self-government, the implementation of the right personnel policy in the chamber, the retention of qualified specialists in case of law salaries. In order to avoid possible abuses, the candidate stressed the importance of carrying out preliminary audits in the communities.
