Cinematography Sphere to Be Regulated by Law

During June 30 convened NA extraordinary session the package of draft laws on Cinematography, on Making Addenda to the RA Code on Administrative Offences and Making Addenda to the RA Tax Code authored by the NA deputies Mkhitar Hayrapetyan, Anna Kostanyan, Artur Manukyan and Arman Yeghoyan was debated in the second reading. The rapporteur Anna Kostanyan informed that after passing the package in the first reading it was revised on the basis of the Government proposals. In particular, the main goal of the draft law on Cinematography is to develop the local and the joint film production, to create favourable conditions for attracting foreign investments.

The NA Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Diaspora, Youth and Sport endorsed the draft law.

The RA Deputy Minister of the Education, Science, Culture and Sports Arayik Khzmalyan has informed that the Government has concerns related to some provisions existing in the package, which refer to the tax privileges.

During the exchange of ideas, the co-author of the package Mkhitar Hayrapetyan noted that the package had been revised for about two years, and it undoubtedly would be of importance for the development of the sphere.

After passing the package it would enter into force after one year.
