The members of the RA NA Delegation to PACE summed up the works of PACE Summer Session from June 21 to 25.

The member of the delegation Tatevik Hayrapetyan underlined the emphases in the frameworks of a number of reports, which related to the issue of the return of Armenian prisoners of war. It was also noted that in the report ‘Media Freedom, Public Trust and People’s Right to Know’ the participants spoke about the numerous restrictions going on in Azerbaijan, because of which animosity towards Armenia and Armenian people was generated. In their reports the members of the delegation presented issues, which related to our country, particularly they talked about the RA NA snap elections held on June 20. As Tatevik Hayrapetyan assured, active debates went on in PACE Committees, and a number of problems concerning us were raised. Touching upon the Azerbaijani delegates’ speeches she noted that spoke about possible peace, however it was a fake thesis, as when they go back to their country, they will visit the trophy park and spread hatred towards us. “Its best response is considered to be Aliyev’s bellicose speeches directed to our country and people,” she said.

The member of the RA NA Delegation to PACE Hovhannes Igityan has stated that the general atmosphere in the European organization is directed to the problems, which concern the Armenian side. The main part of PACE representatives, according to him, believes that without return of Armenian prisoners of war it is impossible to move forward and have dialogue. At PACE Committee on Political Affairs and Democracy the NA deputy raised the issue of intrusion into the territory of Armenia by Azerbaijan and condemn the Azerbaijani side.

The member of the Armenian Delegation to the European structure Sos Avetisyan referred to a series of agenda items of PACE Summer Session, including the problems of violation of children’s rights. He noted that during the war dozens of schools were destroyed, as a consequence of which the rights of children’s education, as well as their peaceful living were violated. “There is positive perception over the issues concerning us in PACE,” Sos Avetisyan underlined.

The speakers answered to the journalists’ questions, which mainly related to the return of Armenian prisoners of war.

To Tatevik Hayrapetyan’s conviction, we should do our best for keeping the attention of the international community on that problem.

Sos Avetisyan considered unacceptable the speculation of the issue of prisoners of war.
