Armenia Faction Nominates Armen Gevorgyan as Candidate for the Post of Chair of NA Standing Committee on Regional and Eurasian Integration

On August 11, the RA National Assembly continued the work of the first session of the NA eighth convocation, carrying on with the debates on the election of the Chairs of the Standing Committees.

The deputy of the NA Armenia Faction Armen Rustamyan nominated the deputy of the Armenia Faction Armen Gevorgyan for electing in the post for the Chair of the NA Standing Committee on Regional and Eurasian Integration. Armen Rustamyan presented his colleague’s biography and work experience.

“This Committee has a very important role from the viewpoint of correctly evaluating the regional problems and challenges,” referring to the regional problems, the representative of the opposition said.

In his speech, Armen Gevorgyan touched upon the importance of the NA Standing Committees, the functions of the Committee, his ideas and works to be done in case of being elected in that responsible post. The deputy also referred to the regional problems, energy cooperation with the regional countries, agenda items of foreign relations etc. “The activity of the Standing Committee on Regional and Eurasian Integration is quite important and can promote the formation of a new agenda of cooperation in the region, the activation of relations with Eurasian countries, the consistent protection of our state and national interests and the activation of parliamentary diplomacy by its essence, with its work style and mechanisms,” summarizing the speech, he underlined.
