On August 12, the work of the first session of the NA eighth convocation continued. The NA Civil Contract Faction nominated Arman Yeghoyan’s candidacy in the post for the Chair of the Standing Committee on European Integration.
The deputy of the Civil Contract Faction Sona Ghazaryan presented the candidate’s professional qualities, his biography and the working path. Arman Yeghoyan is a lawyer, historian and specialist on Europe by profession. Let us note that the latter also headed the Standing Committee on European Integration in the National Assembly of the seventh convocation.
In his speech Arman Yeghoyan thanked the Civil Contract Faction for nominating his candidacy, touched upon the activities and functions of the Committee. He has clarified that this Committee created since 2007 definitely differs from the NA other Standing Committees, as here legislative initiatives are rarely debated. “Mostly being of representation character, the main function of the Committee is the approximation of the legislations of the Republic of Armenia and the European Union and the oversight towards the use of the RA-EU Agreement,” the candidate clarified. In this context Arman Yeghoyan also touched upon the 2.6bln Euros to be allocated to Armenia by the European Union, noting that the decision to allocate such big sum of money by the organization was conditioned by the quality of the held snap parliamentary elections.
