Problems of Pre-School and Special Education Discussed

On November 11 RA NA President Artur Baghdasaryan received Shaldon Yett, UNICEF Director of the Armenian Office. The meeting attended Heghine Bisharyan, member of NA Committee on Science, Education, Culture and Youth Affairs.

During the meeting the possibilities of cooperation on restoration of pre-school institutions, organizing pre-school and special education were discussed.

NA President Artur Baghdasaryan noted that the law on Pre-school Education is in circulation and will be adopted soon. Mr. Yett expressed his readiness to assist, noting in co-operation of the World Bank, they can provide the essential and financial issues of pre-school education. An agreement was reached to organize a joint discussion on these problems.

The law “On Special Education” has already been adopted in order to provide accessibility of education to the children needing special education. It was noted that in 2006 in Armenia a center of education and retraining of the disabled will be opened, for the efficient work of which, by the study of world experience, an agreement was reached to cooperate with UNICEF.
