On September 7, the Speaker of the National Assembly met with the Speaker of the Federal National Council of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Saqr Ghobash. The NA Speaker has noted that Armenia attaches great importance to the continuous development of the relations with the Gulf Arab countries, in particular, with the UAE and keeps in the center of attention the political and economic processes of the region.

Alen Simonyan has affirmed that the United Arab Emirates is an important partner for Armenia, and we attach significant importance to our friendship, as well as to the deepening of the multidisciplinary cooperation. He highlighted the UAE balanced foreign policy at regional and international levels, highly appreciating the balanced position of their country on the problem of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict.

He has recorded with satisfaction that the political dialogue between our countries is active at different levels. The cooperation on multilateral platforms is systematic. The Speaker of the National Assembly has stated that there is big potential of development for cooperation between the United Arab Emirates and the Republic of Armenia, which is available in the political, economic, cultural, military technical, renewable energy, aviation, information technologies, trade and economic, education and other fields.

Alen Simonyan has underlined the role of the effective cooperation between the legislative bodies in strengthening the bases of mutually beneficial cooperation, specially underlining the activities of deputy friendship groups, which has a tangible contribution to the process of strengthening inter-parliamentary relations. The Speaker of the UAE Parliament, expressing satisfaction for the opportunity to meet, has emphasized that since the independence of Armenia, the UAE-Armenia political and economic relations develop quite actively.

In October of this year, Expo Dubai 2020 titled Connecting Minds and Creating the Future will be launched in the United Arab Emirates, where Armenia will also participate. The Speaker of the Federal National Council of the United Arab Emirates Saqr Ghobash invited his Armenian counterpart to pay an official visit to the United Arab Emirates. At the meeting ideas were also exchanged related to the processes taking place in the South Caucasus and the Near East.
