January 2 to Be Non-Working Day
1 / 3

On November 10, at the regular sitting of the NA Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs, the draft law on Amending the RA Law on RA Holidays and Memorial Days was debated in the second reading.

The bill proposed to reduce New Year non-working days and set January 2, 3, 4, 5 and 7 as working days.

The RA Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan informed that there were many discussions related to the bill and a decision was made to include January 2 in the list of non-working days too.

The Minister of Economy referring to the proposal of Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin to leave January 5 and 7 non-working, has noted that the proposal has been studied in detail, however it is not economically expedient to accept it.

In his speech, the NA deputy Aram Vardevanyan stated that he did not hear essential counter-argument on not accepting the proposal of Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin. According to him, the draft law is unacceptable by the presented amendments.

In her co-report, the NA deputy Arpine Davoyan referring to the issue on not accepting the proposal, mentioned that economic calculations were made.

The draft law was endorsed.
