Deadline for Providing Old Sample Passports is to Be Extended

At November 16 sitting, the deputies in the first reading debated the draft laws on Making Amendments and Addenda to the Law on the RA Citizen’s Passport and on making Amendments and Addenda to the Law on Identity Cards.

According to the RA Deputy Head of Police Ara Fidanyan, the aim of the initiative is to resolve the problems emerged in the legal practice and comply the legislative formulations regulating the same sphere.

In case of the adoption of the bills, the right of having a document confirming the person will be also guaranteed in cases, when conditioned by disease, when the citizen, who lost the ability of moving, cognitivism, memory or being unconscious in a medical institution will not be able to personally submit an application.

It is proposed to extend the deadline for giving biometrical passports to the RA citizens for one year - setting instead of January 1, 2022 up to December 31, 2022.

The co-rapporteur, the RA NA Standing Committee on Defense and Security member Armen Khachatryan presented the endorsement of the Committee.
