Committee Reaffirms Its Position
1 / 7

At December 10 extraordinary sitting, the NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations debated the NA Draft Statement on Demarcation and Delimitation Main Problems authored by the NA Armenia Faction.

The Head of the Faction Seyran Ohanyan presented the motivations of working out the draft statement and problems being as a basis. “The situation created after November 9 of the previous year allows us to conclude that Azerbaijan does not fulfill its obligations and moreover, commits provocations on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, which undermine the peace situation, about which we thought. And in these conditions so hurriedly, so quickly to delimitation and demarcation, putting under blow the destiny Artsakh, we consider unacceptable,” he particularly noted, adding that the Faction is not against demarcation and delimitation, however we should have conditions for that. He has also underlined that, in particular, the Faction by the statement condemns the military actions unleashed by the Turkish-Azerbaijani tandem and not fulfilling their obligations.

According to the co-rapporteur Maria Karapetyan, the Faction has not revised the draft law under debate, and today, there are inadmissible provisions in it. As the MP has assessed, the draft law is maximal inner-political, and it will not promote in any way the strengthening of the RA Government positions in the negotiation process. She asked her colleagues not to approve the draft statement.

As a result of debate, the Committee did not endorse the draft statement.
