1 / 4

At February 22 regular sitting, the RA NA Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Diaspora, Youth and Sport debated in the first reading the draft law on Making Amendments to the RA Tax Code authored by the NA deputies of the Civil Contract Faction Gevorg Papoyan, Mikayel Tumasyan and Arusyak Manavazyan.

Gevorg Papoyan presented the initiative revised on the basis of the proposal of the Government. It is envisaged by the bill to give universities an opportunity to reimburse the tuition fees of some groups of students by 20% instead of 10% by July 31, 2024.

The authors expect that the adoption of the draft law will provide a possibility to even more citizens who participated in the April 2016 and 44-day, 2020 wars and are considered students to receive partial reimbursement of tuition fee in the form of student scholarship. The circumstance is taken into account that in 2024, those students should have already completed their education.

The Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Karen Trchunyan presented the endorsement of the Government.

It is planned to include the draft law in the draft agenda of the regular sittings to be convened on March 1 by the endorsement of the Committee.
