The RA NA Armenia Faction proposes to make addenda to the law on State Pensions, on Making Addendum to the law on State Allowances in the package of the draft laws. The legislative initiatives were discussed at February 22 sitting of the NA Standing Committee on Labor and Social Affairs.

The key rapporteur Aghvan Vardanyan, proposes to regulate the relations on the allowance indexation appointed in case of the labor and military pensions, as well as aging, invalidity and losing the feeder.

The co-rapporteur the Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Davit Khachatryan has presented the position of the Government and noted that the approach of setting the indexation order by law is problematic, which is proposed by the package of draft laws. According to him, it is expedient to debate the issue of designing the annual compulsory indexation by law for the increase of the amount of the pension payment after the implementation of the strategic goal of the RA Government.

The Committee Chair Heriknaz Tigranyan has underlined that nobody is against the increase of the pensions. However, according to him, with regards to legal regulations the legislative package is incomplete. According to her, the presented draft law needs to be revised. The MP proposed to postpone the voting.

The proposal was not accepted by the key rapporteur.

As a result of voting, the legislative package was not endorsed.

The NA deputy Aghvan Vardanyan proposes to make another amendment to the same law.

The Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Davit Khachatryan presented the viewpoint of the Government.

The deputies have underlined in their speeches the problem really exists, and needs to be solved, but both sides should find acceptable solutions.

The draft law was not approved by the Committee.

It is proposed to set lowest threshold for the minimum pension by the package of the draft laws on Making Addenda to the RA law on State Pensions, on Making Addendum to the RA Law on State Allowances authored by the deputy of the NA Armenia Faction Aghvan Vardanyan.

The legislative package was not endorsed.
