On February 28, the RA NA Chief of Staff, Secretary General Vahan Naribekyan, the Deputy Chief of Staff Heghine Khachikyan met with the delegation led by the Special Envoy of Canada to the European Union and Europe, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Federal Republic of Germany Stéphane Dion.

Welcoming the members of the delegation in the National Assembly and emphasizing the warm friendly relations formed between parliaments, Vahan Naribekyan expressed readiness to continue the cooperation. Vahan Naribekyan highlighted the establishment and maintenance of stable relationship between the staffs of two parliaments, also aimed at developing capacities of the RA NA Staff, which is supported by the Parliamentary Centre of Canada.

The Special Envoy of Canada to the European Union and Europe Stéphane Dion has noted that he is on a mission to prepare a report in Armenia, which will be presented to the Government of Canada and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The aspects of effective cooperation for the development of democracy and parliamentary democracy in Armenia will be touched upon in the report.

According to the RA NA Deputy Chief of Staff Heghine Khachikyan, the National Assembly Staff, effectively cooperating with the Parliamentary Centre of Canada, presented a jointly developed strategic development program in December 2021. It is unique in its inclusion and aims to create greater opportunities for people with disabilities, women and young people, to involve them in the activities of the Staff.

The program is the first result of the effective cooperation between the Staff and the Parliamentary Centre of Canada, and the National Assembly of Armenia highlighted the continuity of cooperation over the next five years.
