Deputies Refer to Proposed Amendments to RA Criminal Procedure Code

On March 23, the RA Deputy Minister of Justice Arpine Sargsyan submitted to parliament for debate the package of draft laws on Making Amendments and Addendum to the RA Criminal Procedure Code and on Amending the RA Criminal Procedure Code.

In particular, it was suggested to reserve the preliminary investigation of criminal cases on torture to the investigators of the RA Investigative Committee, based on the need for such cases to be investigated by an independent body.

It was proposed to reserve the preliminary investigation of criminal cases on crimes committed by persons holding autonomous positions in the RA Investigative Committee to the RA National Security Bodies to ensure the objectivity of the investigation.

It was also proposed to reserve the preliminary investigation of criminal cases on crimes related to the exercise of the right to vote, the work of electoral commissions, obstruction of the exercise of powers of persons participating in the elections, falsification of election and voting results, falsified ballot papers, ballot envelopes, stamps, realization of coupons to the RA Investigative Committee.

The member of the RA NA Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs Artur Davtyan informed that the Committee endorsed the legislative package.
