On June 24, within the framework of the “Political Accessibility and Inclusion” Project, the regular meeting of the NA Standing Committee on Labor and Social Affairs-IFES (International Foundation for Electoral Systems) Working Group was held. The component of the “Political Accessibility and Inclusion” Project is a part of the Strengthening of Electoral Processes and Political Accountability (SEPPA) Project, which is implemented with the financial support of the USAID by the IFES.

The items included in the agenda related to the mechanism of creating assessment and appropriate reasonable accommodations according to the need for the persons with disabilities having different problems, as well as the amendments being designed in the RA Electoral Code. To ensure the inclusiveness of the electoral processes not only the accessibility of the buildings being not only a precinct center is important, but also the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) website, campaign materials and the campaign accessibility.

At the meeting the issue of including the persons with disabilities at the preliminary phase of the elaboration of the drafts was also discussed, if the regulations refer to the rights of the mentioned persons.

As a result of working discussion, a decision was made to elaborate by the Group and submit proposals on the Electoral Code amendments and in the near future to initiate a workshop with the participation of the extended composition of the Working Group and the persons with disabilities.
