Speakers Present Budgetary Process, Programme Budgeting and Its Peculiarities in Our Country: Two-Day Workshop in Tsakhkadzor

The purpose of the workshop to present the budgetary process of the Republic of Armenia, particularly, the budgeting of the programme, gender-sensitive and sustainable development goals aimed at the result, the essence of the strategic planning and its connection with the budget programmes: the Coordinating Expert of the NA Budget Office Gagik Barseghyan noted.

On October 14-16, the UNDP Project Modern Parliament for a Modern Armenia jointly with the Budget Office of the RA National Assembly and the NA Standing Committee on Financial-Credit and Budgetary Affairs organized a workshop in Tsakhkadzor for the NA deputies, their assistants and the representatives of the NA Staff on the theme ‘The RA Budgetary Process: Programme, Gender-Sensitive and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Budgeting.’

The speakers presented to the participants of the workshop the budgetary process, the programme budgeting and its peculiarities in our country.

Ahead of the budgetary discussions the main indices of the RA state budget draft for 2023, as well as the dynamics for 2020, 2021 and 2022 were also presented.

Let us note that from October 3 the state budget draft is in parliament. Before discussing it at the NA plenary sitting, the draft will be debated at the Standing Committees. IN this context the holding of the workshop in this format was emphasized.

During the workshop the participants also got acquainted with the budgetary process in parliaments of Armenia and Sweden, the applicable tools in it and the necessary mediation mechanisms in the approval and assessment process of the budget.

Let us note that the UNDP Project Modern Parliament for a Modern Armenia is financed by the Government of Sweden and is aimed to support the accountability, transparency and oversight functions of Armenian Parliament.
