Lilit Galstyan Gives a Speech at OSCE PA: Not So Far from the European capitals, the People of Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh, are Continuing to be Subjected to Aggression, Displacement and Ethnic Cleansing
1 / 1

The Member of the Armenian delegation Lilit Galstyan gave a speech at OSCE PA Autumn Session.

“Dear colleagues, honorable president,

Today, the main concern of the International community is Ukraine. Urgent action is required to combat the security challenges, to prevent the region from irrevocable confrontations.

It would be difficult to find a single person on earth, who is against peace.

Sadly, human rights, aggression and war, regardless of nationality, religion and geography, have the same face and the same consequences.

Not so far from the European capitals, the people of Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh, are continuing to be subjected to aggression, displacement and ethnic cleansing. The situation in and around Armenia remains very turbulent. And, again, I have to stress that the OSCE’s policy of double standards and the silence of member countries is generating new crimes.

Today, 2 years after the November 9 statement, Azerbaijan continues its aggressive behaviour and genocidal aspirations. Contrary to the provisions of the treaty, Azerbaijan did not release all Armenian prisoners of war. During the so-called peaceful period, the number of victims among the civilian population exceeds 180. The militant and terrorist rhetoric of the Azerbaijani officials, cases of vandalism and destruction of the Armenian cultural heritage in the occupied territories of Nagorno-Karabakh are of a continuous nature. The return of thousands of displaced people to their homes is not implemented. The Azerbaijani aggression was accompanied by horrific crimes, massive human rights violations, which are documented and recorded. The 2022 aggression was condemned by many states, but Azerbaijan’s behavior remains unchanged and 130sq.kilometers of Armenian sovereign territories still remain occupied. The geopolitical and military balance of the region has changed. The EU-Azerbaijan gas deal is only strengthening an aggressor county continuously conducting a policy of ethnic cleansing.

If the international community, including the OSCE is really interested in long-term peace and stability in our region, then Azerbaijan must be held accountable as a war criminal for violations of international law, for the use of chemical weapons and the involvement of Turkish backed terrorists in the war.

I refuse to believe that the EU gas deal holds more worth than real European values including democracy and human rights - that unite us as an international family.

Dear colleagues,

Contrary to Aliyev's militant claims, the Karabakh problem is not resolved. And Azerbaijan's armenophobic and genocidal behavior is testament to the fact that the right of the people of Artsakh to self-determination has no alternative and cannot be considered resolved through aggression,” Lilit Galstyan concluded.
