The initiative defines the concepts related to the EAEU trademark, trademark application and unified registration of trademarks. In order to register the EAEU trademark, the function of the state authorized body was added, the principle of the regional consumer rights to the trademark was introduced instead of the existing principle of international consumption.

The terms of the non-use for cancellation trademark registration have been reduced. instead of the existing 5 years, 3 years’ term has been set. These provisions have been complied with the provisions of the Treaty on the EAEU, the EU-Armenia Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement. The Deputy Minister of Economy Rafael Gevorgyan mentioned this at the January 9 sitting of the Standing Committee on Regional and Eurasian Integration.

At the first reading, the Committee discussed the amendments and addenda proposed by the Government to the Law on Trademarks and the Civil Code. The meeting was chaired by the Deputy Chair of the Committee Vagharshak Hakobyan.

The initiative was approved by the Committee.
