Amounts of Fine for Illegally Imported Medicine to Be Increased

The package of the draft law on Making Addenda to the Law on Medicine and the enclosed presented ones is aimed at more effectively organizing the oversight functions of the inspection body. On January 16, at the NA regular sitting the Chair of the NA Standing Committee on Health Care Narek Zeynalyan said about this, presenting the legislative initiative authored by him and Lusine Badalyan.

According to Narek Zeynalyan, the draft designs to give a function of purchase control to the Inspection body, as some inspection bodies have in order the latter will have an opportunity to reveal the illegally imported and false medicine to the Republic of Armenia being sold in the medicine market.

It is proposed to increase the amounts of fine by the package of drafts. In case of disclosing up to 30 packages of illegally imported medicine by the current regulation, it is designed a fine in the amount of 150 times of the minimum salary, and in case of more than 30 packages – in the amount of 350 times. According to the Committee Chair, the unscrupulous entrepreneurs were paying the designed amounts of fine and continue to sell the imported medicine. It is proposed by the amendment to set fine in case of revealing up 5 packages of imported medicine in the amount of 1000 times of the minimum salary, in case of more than 5 – 2000 times, and in case of again revealing it during one-year suspension of license is designed up to 2 months, in case of again revealing – license termination.

Hripsime Hunanyan presented the endorsement of the Head Committee.

The key rapporteur, the Acting Head of the he Inspection Bodies' Coordination Bureau of the Office Armen Danileyan noted that the draft is acceptable and important by the Government. According to Armen Danielyan, the executive body presented a number of proposals, which were accepted by the authors.
