Issues of Cooperation between Staffs Discussed

The delegation led by the Chief of Staff, Secretary General of the RA National Assembly Vahan Naribekyan left for the Republic of France on a working visit at the invitation of the Secretary General of the Senate of France Eric Tavernier.

At the meeting held in the Senate, the RA NA Chief of Staff, Secretary General Vahan Naribekyan, thanking his colleague for the invitation, underlined the continuous support that the Republic of France shows to the Republic of Armenia at all levels: its vivid example is also this visit to the Senate of France.

On the first day of the working visit the Secretaries General of two parliaments discussed the concept of cooperation of the Staffs, taking as a basis the Agreement of Cooperation between the National Assembly of France and the Senate of France signed between the RA NA President Alen Simonyan and the President of the Senate of France GĂ©rard Larcher on November 22, 2021. Cooperation and an exchange programme in the spheres of common interest is designed by the abovementioned agreement: they can refer to the administrative activities of parliaments, the training of the Staffs and the policy of public relations.

The issue of signing a Memorandum of Cooperation between the staffs of two parliaments was discussed to make institutional the specified collaboration.

Welcoming his colleague, the Secretary General of the Senate Eric Tavernier assured that the Staff of the Senate of France will provide the possible support and welcomed the proposal made by Vahan Naribekyan to sign a Memorandum of Cooperation.

In the context of the development of the capacities of the Staff of the National Assembly the mechanisms of providing assistance of the international Francophonie programmes were also discussed.

Within the framework of the visit there was a meeting also with the Deputy Secretary General of the Senate, the Director of the Institutional Missions Bertrand Follin. Bertrand Follin presented the peculiarities of the sub-divisions led by him, particularly, the provision of the legislative activities of parliament by the Staff, the innovations made by the Senate, which allows the citizens to take part in the legislative work by the possibility of presenting electronic systems. The issues regarding the regulation of post-legislative monitoring mechanisms were thoroughly presented and discussed.
