It is established by Constitution that 4 seats in the National Assembly are given for the representatives of the national minorities, and it is not mentioned for the nations. The Electoral Code, where it says that according to the last census sets the MPs, the seats of four greatest communities are given to the representatives of the abovementioned communities: the deputy of NA Civil Contract Aleksey Sandikov during the meeting with YSU students passing educational practice.

The deputy in detail presented that the NA factions are formed, spoke about the deputies’ activity representing national minorities.

“The main mission of the deputy representing the national minority is to voice the problems of his/her community and present the interests,” the deputy representing the Russian community said.

Speaking about parliamentary diplomacy, the deputy presented the international platforms, where the problems of Armenia are raised.

The students, particularly, were interested in the Armenian-Russian relations, the details of the inter-parliamentary cooperation of the two countries.

Answering to the guests’ questions, the MP touched upon the work of the CSTO parliamentary and the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assemblies, the positive and negative sides of joining them.

During the meeting a reference was made to situation in the region, the illegal closing of the Lachin Corridor, the Russian peacekeepers’ mission, the necessity of the rise of the level of studying Russian in Armenia.
