Head of EU Delegation to Armenia Presents Details on Goals and Expectations of Civil Mission

On February 10, the members of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly on European Integration Meri Galstyan, Arsen Torosyan, Sona Ghazaryan, Armen Gevorgyan and Tatevik Gasparyan led by the Chair of the Committee Arman Yeghoyan met with the Head of the European Union Delegation to Armenia, Ambassador Andrea Wiktorin.

The deputies thanked the European Union in person of the Ambassador, for sending Mission of the European Union to Armenia, the reports recently adopted in the European Parliament and continuous support being provided to Armenia. Andrea Wiktorin thoroughly presented the goals of the civil mission, the expectations from it and other details. She noted that issues of health, physical security and other ones of the residents of the border zones will be at the centre of attention of the mission representatives.

The sides discussed the Resilient Syunik Team Europe initiative, the primary budget of which is about 51 million Euros for coming 5 years. The importance of the programmes being implemented for the residents of Syunik and other marzes was stressed. A reference was made to the health and educational spheres, as well as the work being done on vulnerable groups in both executive and legislative bodies.

The representatives of the National Assembly were interested in the visa liberalization process, voiced about the caused obstacles for receiving Schengen Visa in Armenia.

The process of implementing the Armenia-European Union Comprehensive and Advanced Partnership Agreement, the reforms launched in a number of spheres, as well as numerous other issues were also on the agenda.
