Adoption of bill to improve the quality of protection of RA interests and effectiveness of activity of Representative on International Legal Matters

The legislative powers of the Representative on International Legal Matters will be more clearly regulated with the adoption of the bill, the quality of the protection of the interests of the Republic of Armenia and the effectiveness of the Representative’s activity will be improved.

The draft law on Making Addenda and Amendment to the Law on Representative on International Legal Matters authored by the Government was debated at April 5 sitting of the RA NA Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs in the second reading.

The RA Representative on International Legal Matters at the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) Yeghishe Kirakosyan informed that the draft underwent certain revisions during the period from the first to the second reading: amendments arising from technical and legal requirements were made, there were no substantive amendments. The revised draft was endorsed by the RA Ministry of Justice.

The Chair of the Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs, the co-rapporteur Vladimir Vardanyan noting that the draft was debated in detail in the first reading, proposed to vote for the draft.

The revised draft was endorsed.
