Alen Simonyan: Opposition returns with its own agenda, but it has no agenda
1 / 1

During the debate of the report on the implementation process and results of the Government Programme of the Republic of Armenia (2021-2026) for 2022, the NA President Alen Simonyan delivered an extraordinary speech at the NA extraordinary sitting on April 20.

The Speaker of Parliament responded to the incident that took place today, on April 20, at the NA session hall after the deputy Taguhi Tovmasyan’s speech. According to Alen Simonyan, all this is a consequence of the fact that the opposition that returned to Parliament, which returned with its own agenda, simply exhausted itself and has no agenda.

The NA President underlined that the opposition has chosen the following way of working: to disrupt with various tactics, to ensure presence, to organize provocations, to tell lies from the tribune, and to play the same disc over and over again.

The NA President noted that when the NA deputy of Armenia Faction Aregnaz Manukyan approached the tribune, it seemed that she was supposed to deny her previous statements. The issue is that today the court made a decision by which Aregnaz Manukyan was obliged to deny the lie she uttered, by which the NA President and his colleagues were accused of being millionaires. “The irony is that the court decided that she should pay about one million AMD. I think that what she said happened, and if she does not appeal, she is obliged to pay that one million AMD,” he said.

The NA President mentioned that in classical politics, the opposition demands new elections, but the opposition does not demand new elections, because it knows that the majority of them simply will not be in the new Parliament.
