Journalist-students passing probation period in Factor TV visit Parliament

On June 26, within the framework of the Open Class programme, the journalist-students passing probation period in Factor TV of the NGO Factor Information Centre visited the National Assembly. The deputy of the NA Civil Contract Faction, the member of the Standing Committee on Labor and Social Affairs Mariam Poghosyan met with them.

The interns inquired about Mariam Poghosyan’s entry into politics as a young parliamentarian. “It is really a great responsibility to be a member of the legislative body. I became interested in politics from 2008 after the terrible events of March 1, before becoming a deputy, I have always been a participant in political processes” Mariam Poghosyan said. She singled out three qualities characteristic of a politician: restraint, principality and patience.

The young people spoke about freedom of speech in Armenia, the spread of misinformation, the polarization of mass media, the establishment of unbiased information, and the problems of control of the sector. The reforms of the education sector, the question of voluntary certification of teachers were also addressed.

In addition, within the framework of the programme European media platform: building a reliable and professional media, for two years in a row, Factor TV, together with the BBC Media Action and the Deutsche Welle Akademie, is implementing a three-month probation period for the development of practical skills of students of the faculties of journalism of Armenian universities, where about 30 young people have already taken part.
