Sargis Khandanyan meets with delegation of International Institute for Peace of Vienna

The Chair of the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations Sargis Khandanyan met with the members of the delegation of International Institute for Peace (IIP) of Vienna on September 4.

Welcoming the guests, the Committee Chair highlighted the work being done in the direction of strengthening peace and security in the world.

The Vice President of the International Institute for Peace of Vienna, the former UN Assistant Secretary-General for Political Affairs Angela Kane noted that they are in Armenia to get acquainted with the situation in Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh.

At the request of the members of the delegation, Sargis Khandanyan spoke about the security situation in the region, touched upon the illegal blockade of the Lachin Corridor by Azerbaijan.

The Committee Chair presented detailed information on the abduction of three students from Nagorno Karabakh from the illegal checkpoint located in the Lachin Corridor, as well as the servicemen who died as a result of another Azerbaijani provocation on September 1.

Reference was made to the protection of human rights in Armenia, democracy, cooperation with Iran and Georgia.
