1 / 4

On November 29, the RA NA Vice President Hakob Arshakyan took part in the conference titled Armenia’s National Research and Innovation System: Transforming Challenges into Revival organized by the Gituzh initiative.

“Without science, it is impossible to have progress at all. The identity of the state, the basis of statehood is formed thanks to the work of Armenian scientific, historical and humanitarian institutes, outlining the goals and priorities by which the people live and create,” the RA NA Vice President Hakob Arshakyan said during the panel discussion ‘Development of scientific and technological potential in Armenia: Where and how to start’.

Speaking about the technological progress, the NA Vice President noted that Armenia was leading in astronomy and satellite construction during the Soviet period. “Armenia was a vanguard state in those branches of sciences. And if we want to localize our country in any scientific and technological direction, it is impossible without science. It is impossible to be a leader in the world without scientific basis. Science is the only way, with the help of which Armenia will be able to have its own place on the world map in this aggressive environment,” Hakob Arshakyan said.

Referring to the importance and necessity of the formation of the Science and Technology Development Council, the NA Vice President underlined that science is the basis and right of a strong state. “We must have an independent, systemized, institutional science. And in order to have an organized science, additional efforts are required,” the NA Vice President noticed.

According to him, Armenia is prestigious thanks to the work and achievements of the Armenian high-tech companies. “Armenian high-tech companies play a leading role in Armenia,” Hakob Arshakyan underscored, appreciating the Gituzh initiative and the importance of the joint work of the scientific community.

At the conference, issues regarding the development prospects of the scientific-technological and innovative system of Armenia, the creation of a research-oriented educational environment, the steps towards the development of humanitarian and social sciences, and the commercialization of science were discussed in a panel format.

The Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Zhanna Andreasyan, the Minister of High-Tech Industry Robert Khachatryan, the founder of Ayb School Aram Pakhchanian, the representatives of the scientific, educational and technological community, entrepreneurs attended the event.

The main objective of the conference is to discuss the prospects for the creation of that system and the existing challenges, to try to outline the toolkits and approaches contributing to solving the problems under the current conditions.
